This is Enough for Now

Standard

What can I say
that hasn’t already been said?
If I waited to be original or inspiring
I might never say anything at all.
So I simplify,
and then I can express from my truest self.
I look at what is in front of me,
what is within me,
and I experience that.
I don’t try to understand, evaluate, or judge,
I try to just experience,
to breathe through the experience,
to know that this is enough for now.

    • Thank you so much Chloe. I feel the same way about you!! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค Thank you for sharing your beautiful essence self. I enjoy seeing her come out in every post.

  1. You do “express from your truest self,” and I much appreciate it! I also loved, “If I waited to be original or inspiring I might never say anything at all.” That reminded me of a quote from Martha Graham, “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.” I have to remind myself of that fairly often, that it’s not up to me to decide how good my writing is, my job is just to do my best when I write. And your poem was a lovely reminder of that, so thank you!

    • Thank you so much Willow for sharing the beautiful quote, and for your kindness! I’m going to print that one out and carry it around with me; it’s so perfect for the artist/musician/dancer/writer/creative self in me that just wants to come out and be given a voice. Thank you again, my creative soul friend.
