Finding the Voice of Silence

Standard

Voice is hoarse,
barely there…

How can I speak,
who will hear?

Throat is sore,
raw and tense

It hurts to speak.
I search for presence.

How will I find my voice?
How will I connect
with those around me?

There are many obstacles
put before me
as I walk this path
toward self-awareness

When the body is ill
The path becomes
a steep uphill march
trudging
not knowing why
forgetting,
wanting to give up, give in.

And yet…
there is something in me
that whispers

Breathe
Come back home
Breathe
You are one

Breathe
Relax
Rest

This is the voice
I like to listen to
the most.
