NaPoWriMo 2015 Day 15: Not Another Poem

Standard

Oh god.
Not another free-verse poem.
Can’t you have a little more structure?
Wouldn’t you be the same thing
written out in normal sentences?
Just who do you think you are,
trying to call yourself a poem?
Everyone knows it isn’t this easy.
Everyone knows that real poems
take time and passion
and agonizing over each word
and time must be spent
crafting and refining
and the poet must be born
with some kind of divine gift
to create a poem
good enough to be shared.
You aren’t a real poem, you know.
Wait.
Don’t be done yet.
You haven’t said anything interesting.
Will you be interesting, poem,
if I stop chastising you?
