I was walking across a parking lot today
when movement up above caught my eye.
Looking up into the bright blue,
cold, clear autumn sky
I saw a gorgeous hawk
circling slowly overhead.
Transfixed, I stopped,
struck by the graceful
stretch of wings
and the way the bird
was allowing itself to float
on invisible circles of air.
What if we could do that?
I asked myself.
Don’t we all have to stretch
before we can fly?
I wondered what would happen
if I stretched myself like this,
and allowed myself
to be buoyed up
by the invisible forces
that constantly move me.
if you’re feeling depleted
to experience abundance:
Consider that whenever you’re experiencing abundance
you’re also having the experience of being fully alive.
Breathing sustains the physical and emotional
experience of being fully alive
by reinforcing the perception
that life is movement,
a constant transition from
fullness to emptiness.
Try breathing slowly and deeply a few times.
Even if your mind doesn’t,
your body will understand
exactly what I mean.
Healing isn’t something we do,
it’s something that we allow,
once we have dissolved the blocks
to its natural unfolding.
And the blocks are always inside us.
What stories are you telling?
What beliefs have you cherished for so long?
What identity have you been feeding
at the expense of your deepest, truest self?
When we decide to heal, we will,
and it doesn’t matter what needs to be healed.
Cultivate self-love, an appreciation of your soul,
stoke the fire within you that gives rise
to your vibrant, beautiful expression in the world.
All this and more becomes your way of life
when you choose to heal from the inside.
The magic is here.
Open your eyes.
Can you see it?
Heavenly fragrance everywhere.
Can you smell it?
The music is being played.
Can you hear it?
The rhythm is flowing.
Let your body move.
Can you feel it?
The sweet water cascades upon you.
Open your mouth.
Can you taste it?
You are alive.
Did you know it?
Dare to dream big.
The alternative is settling
for a ho, hum existence
and that isn’t you!!
You are the only you
there ever was
and ever will be.
What will you do
with this one precious you?
What makes your heart soar?
What makes your hair stand up
and your soul blaze?
Don’t let your fears decide for you.
They will choose to keep you small,
hidden from view, hidden from YOU,
seeking comfort and familiarity.
Embrace failure as a teacher.
Celebrate your victories
and get back up when you fall.
Only you know what lights you up.
And light up you must,
because in all of the darkness of this world,
your light is what gives us hope.
You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world.
If you’re accustomed to struggling,
let’s try something new.
Work with me here.
Imagine the one thing
you really, really want to do
with this one precious human life of yours,
this huge goal, this amazing project
that would leave you feeling blessed
at its completion.
Then, ask yourself,
Does it have to be hard?
Do I have to struggle to get there?
Imagine opening yourself
to the flow of Universal Intelligence
and allowing yourself to blossom
and expand into your heart’s vision.
do the work of getting quiet and still,
going inwards, and immersing yourself
in the flow of the energy that created
all that is.
When you become accustomed
to the feeling of universal connectedness
and you develop the capacity
to stay connected
as you move through daily life,
the way is opened up before you.
It doesn’t have to be hard.
This expansion into greater states of being
is the most natural thing in the world
for you to do,
just as a flower turns its face to the sun
delighted to see clear skies
after having weathered the darkest storm,
and in that state of all encompassing light
easily, naturally, beautifully—
A cure for the days when it’s cold and rainy
and you’re in a funk:
A game called “One Hundred Things I Love.”
If you’re with a friend or several,
you can take turns completing this sentence:
Just keep going around and around
sharing what you love
until you can feel your mood lifting.
If you are by yourself, take a sheet of paper
and write I LOVE in huge letters at the top.
Then start thinking of all the things you love,
and write them down, one by one.
It only takes a minute
and you’ll feel a million times better…
no more room for an ick sauce funky mood!
hot chocolate on a cold day
kittens sleeping on my lap
kissing my children’s sleeping faces
wading into a cold stream in the summertime
watching a sunset over the ocean
writing in my journal
playing my guitar
a crisp, juicy apple
the sound of rain
walking in the woods
a gentle breeze
the smell of holly blossoms
riding my bike
and on and on and on…
Isn’t life AWESOME?
If you don’t think so,
play “One Hundred Things I Love”!!!
