Here I am,
completely drunk off of life,
confused, obliterated, open,
vulnerable, and asking for more.
It’s a good life.
It’s a good life.
Don’t hide your pain,
especially from yourself.
Pain hidden from yourself
gets blamed on others.
Be brave, warrior,
and look deep inside.
The pain is just another facet
of the deep and abiding joy
that is who you really are.
To experience this deep joy,
you must navigate through
your own pain.
Sit still, breathe,
pay attention to your body—
it has much to tell you.
Breathe a little more,
let it reach deeper into you.
Tune into all of it,
feel all of it,
the grief, the anger, the sadness,
the resentment, the disappointment—
whatever it is, it is showing you the way
back home to your joy.
Give yourself permission to take care of yourself,
no one else will give it to you.
It may seem like a selfish act,
but it is only in caring deeply for yourself
that you can extend that same caring to others.
Let your cup be full, your body rested, your mind at ease.
Now you will be in a position
to offer the very best of yourself
to this world that longs to know you.
This day is a huge gift!
How many people who were alive yesterday
didn’t wake up today?
And yet here you are, reading these words—
isn’t it amazing you can look at these symbols
and your precious brain makes meaning of them
in a way that your heart can be touched
or your body may want to move?
At any moment you might breathe deeply
and settle into stillness,
or you may jump up
and run like crazy.
Isn’t it amazing?
I recently read about making up for lost sleep time
if you are sleep deprived.
Can you make up for lost awakened time
if you are awakening deprived?
Don’t be afraid if you are asked to let go
of someone you presently hold dear to your heart.
Do you grieve the setting sun
knowing that it will rise again at day break?
Do you mourn the loss of summer
as autumn leaves begin to fall?
Do you regret the waves flowing their way
back to the ocean
even though in the next instant
they crash again upon the shore?
Everything in this life
has a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Letting go gracefully
makes the space to receive
the many delights life wants to bring you
if only you are open to receiving them.
Surrender to this moment,
whatever is happening,
just see it with open eyes.
And then if someone is trying
to take your power away,
RUN LIKE HELL!
